Knitting Series: The Ball System

What was that all about?

The idea was simple: take something as soft and “unruly” as wool and try to contain it within a rigid, geometric framework. Instead of sketching balls of yarn freehand, I wanted to see if I could construct them using only perfect arcs and repeating modules.

Knitting Series: The Ball System

Concept and exploration: In this project, I took on something extremely organic and soft—a ball of yarn—and tried to encapsulate it within a rigid, geometric system. Instead of drawing free-form shapes, I imposed a strict regimen of working with specific arc radii and repetitive modules. I wanted to see at what point abstract, mathematically drawn lines begin to be recognizable as a concrete object.

Process and technique: The whole piece is based on a visual experiment in simplifying form. I used strong contrasts, thick outlines, and a saturated, almost pop-art-like color palette to distance myself from the traditional aesthetics of craftsmanship. I sought a balance between a pure graphic sign and a tangible subject that each of us associates with warmth and manual labor.

Summary: For me, this project is a study in organizing chaos. It proves that even a motif as unpredictable as a wool weave, when subjected to the rules of geometry, can become a modern and legible visual manifesto.
